The problem wasn't that tracking was absent – it was that it couldn't be trusted. The company was already tracking leads, form submissions, conversion rates, and campaign efficiency. The challenge was that, in fintech, lead quality is often determined further down the funnel. The most valuable signals appear after the initial website conversion, when leads are reviewed, qualified, onboarded, or converted into revenue.
But with browser restrictions, ad blockers, and cookie limitations, these signals were harder to capture. As a result, the company wasn't confident that the conversion data reaching their ad platforms reflected the reality of their lead funnel.
The Fintech company's setup relied entirely on client-side tracking. Every conversion event depended on the user's browser to execute tracking code and send the conversion data to LinkedIn. This tracking methodology worked only when nothing interrupted it and required the user to click through from the ad in the same session - which often doesn’t happen. In reality, ad blockers could prevent tracking scripts from loading, Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) restricted cookies and browser-based attribution, and consent restrictions often stopped tracking before any conversion data was sent. As a result, some conversions were never reported back to LinkedIn or other advertising platforms. This created several issues:
The Stape Care team migrated the Fintech company to Stape’s server-side GTM infrastructure to create a unified tracking architecture across all major advertising platforms, including LinkedIn. The new setup was designed to ensure that every platform received consistent conversion data from PipeDrive as the primary CRM source. A key part of the implementation was accurate event deduplication, with browser-side and server-side events mapped using shared event IDs to prevent duplicate conversions.
To further improve attribution, the implementation introduced first-party tracking powered by the Cookie Keeper power-up. By extending the lifetime of first-party attribution cookies and click identifiers, the solution preserved attribution across longer customer journeys despite browser privacy restrictions.
The migration also included server-side data enrichment powered by Enricher power-up. Whenever first-party identifiers such as hashed email addresses, phone numbers, or click IDs became available during a user’s journey, they were automatically attached to subsequent conversion events.
Before events were forwarded to advertising platforms, they were validated inside the server container. Invalid payloads, missing required parameters, malformed requests, and duplicate events were filtered automatically, ensuring that only high-quality conversion data reached LinkedIn and the company’s other advertising platforms.
To improve the quality of offline conversion reporting, the team also implemented Stape Store as a validation layer. Before offline CRM events were sent to LinkedIn, each lead was checked against previously processed records using the customer’s email address.
Beyond LinkedIn’s Conversions API, the company adopted a unified server-side architecture across all major paid channels, including Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat. This created a centralized tracking framework that simplified maintenance, ensured consistent event structures across platforms, and provided a scalable foundation for future integrations.

The new setup also made it possible to send offline CRM events – including qualified leads, sales opportunities, closed deals, subscription renewals, and revenue – back to LinkedIn. This enables campaign optimization based on actual business outcomes rather than only initial lead submissions, giving LinkedIn’s bidding algorithms access to higher-value conversion signals.
To support long-term reliability, the Monitoring and Logs features were implemented to quickly identify delivery failures, API errors, rate-limit issues, and configuration problems before they could impact campaign performance. These improvements reduced troubleshooting time, while making ongoing maintenance significantly easier for the marketing team.
The entire migration was completed without requiring a large in-house development project, allowing the company to modernize its tracking infrastructure with minimal development effort.
