User Agent Info power-up

The User Agent Info power-up enriches every incoming server request with additional headers containing the user's device and browser information. These headers cover details such as device type, OS, browser, engine, and platform.

Once enabled, the following headers are added inside sGTM:

• X-Device-Mobile
• X-Device-Os
• X-Device-Browser
• X-Device-Browser-Version
• X-Device-Engine
• X-Device-Engine-Version
• X-Device-Model
• X-Device-Platform

User Agent Info is available on the Free subscription plan and higher. To check your current plan or upgrade, go to your sGTM container settings.

   Log in to your Stape account and select your sGTM container from the dashboard.

   Go to the Power-ups tab.

   Click Use next to the User Agent Info panel.

3. Toggle the User Agent Info switch to enable it, and click Save changes.

To use the headers, create variables with the type Request Header and enter the exact header names, for example X-Device-Mobile:

   Go to your sGTM container.

   Create a new User-Defined Variable with the type Request Header and enter the header name.

   Click Save.

   Open your sGTM container's Preview mode and trigger events on your website. Click on the Incoming HTTP Request.

2. In the incoming requests, check for the X-Device headers. If all of them are present, the power-up is working correctly.

A sample scenario is an e-commerce brand that notices a significant drop in checkout conversion rate but can't pinpoint the cause. Their analytics show healthy traffic volumes, but the conversion data isn't broken down by device type or browser, making it impossible to tell whether the issue is isolated to a specific platform or widespread.

You can identify this problem and fix it this way:

   In GA4, compare your overall checkout conversion rate against your average order value across the same time period. If conversion is low but revenue per order isn't, the problem is likely concentrated in a specific device or browser segment rather than across all users.

   Enable the User Agent Info power-up and configure a GA4 tag in your sGTM container to pass header values such as X-Device-Mobile, X-Device-Os, and X-Device-Browser as custom event parameters. This allows you to segment checkout events by device type and browser directly in your GA4 reports.
3. 3.
   Monitor the segmented data over 1–2 weeks to build a reliable baseline.

If the drop is platform-specific, you will see a measurable concentration of incomplete checkouts tied to a particular OS or browser version.
