Signals Gateway supports WhatsApp Conversions API. Now, you can enrich Meta or other destinations with the data from WhatsApp using a reliable server-side connection.

Please note: the feature is currently in Beta and requires allowlisting from the Stape or Meta sides.

How Signals Gateway works with WhatsApp’s Conversions API

The Signals Gateway captures a copy of every message users send via WhatsApp. These messages are processed based on the business's custom setup.

Messages triggered by ad campaigns will be identified as such, allowing the Signals Gateway to trace their source. Additionally, the Gateway scans all incoming messages for specific keywords defined by the business. When these keywords are detected, the system generates corresponding signals.

Best practices for Signals Gateway setup

For a convenient setup, the following steps are recommended:

  • Link all phone numbers in your WhatsApp Business Account to a unified data pipeline.
  • Deploy the Signals Gateway for all phone numbers via the WhatsApp Cloud API.
  • To transmit data to Meta, activate the Conversions API as the data destination.
  • Utilize a single instance of the Signals Gateway to handle all WhatsApp phone numbers.

The configuration process is the same as described in our guide on Signals Gateway; you just need to pick WhatsApp as a source.

To sum up

WhatsApp and Signals Gateway configuration is a helpful solution for campaign effectiveness tracking. By setting up server-side tracking of WhatsApp interactions, without disrupting the user experience, organizations can now get attribution insights and improve campaign performance.
