Overview of Snapchat Conversions API Gateway

Snapchat Conversions API Gateway (Snap CAPIG) is a server-side tracking solution hosted by Stape. It routes Snapchat conversion events to Snapchat through the Snap Conversions API, without a manual server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM) container setup.

Simply connect your Snap Pixels to the gateway, and it will route your event data to Snapchat through a fast, secure server connection.

One gateway can serve multiple Snap Pixels. Pixels from different Snapchat Business accounts can be connected to the same gateway when you have admin access to those Pixels.

You can also assign a custom domain for the Pixel’s communication with the gateway. That domain should match the subdomain used to fire the Snap Pixel.

   When a visitor engages with your website (such as viewing a page, adding an item to their cart, or completing a purchase) the Snapchat web pixel fires automatically in the browser. It captures key browser-level signals, event parameters, and user identifiers (including IP address, and user agent). The pixel script can be served through Snapchat’s standard endpoints or routed through an optional custom subdomain.

   The pixel transmits the event payload directly to your gateway endpoint – utilizing either your default Stape-assigned URL or a custom first-party subdomain if configured.

   Upon receiving the web hit, the hosted gateway transforms the incoming data into the standardized Snapchat Conversions API format. Event IDs and parameters are aligned automatically, enabling accurate matching and deduplication between web and server requests.

   The gateway forwards the structured payload to Snapchat Conversions API servers through a secure server-to-server connection. Snapchat links these signals to user profiles, driving precise attribution, campaign optimization, and analytics within Snapchat Ads Manager.

   Stape actively logs all incoming and outgoing event traffic. Processed event types and performance metrics populate your Snapchat CAPIG dashboard within roughly 30 minutes of initial setup.
