The Google Consent Mode Listener tag monitors consent status changes and pushes a dedicated event to the dataLayer whenever a monitored consent type is updated. This allows Google Tag Manager to react to consent changes and trigger tags, scripts, or workflows based on a user's latest consent preferences.
The tag is a completely free solution available for all users. To start configuring the tag, download the template from the Stape GitHub repository.
Import the template into your web GTM container via Templates → Tag Templates → Import.
The Google Consent Mode Listener tag continuously monitors Consent Mode states configured in GTM. When one or more monitored consent types change, the tag pushes a dedicated event to the dataLayer.
By default, the event name is: stape_consent_update
The event also includes the current consent state for all monitored consent types, making it easy to use the updated values in GTM triggers and tags.
